A Dieu seul l’adoration

John was there … saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”  ! John 1 . 35,36

Then I heard every creature…,singing : “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever !” Revelations 5.13

Jesus was tempted by Satan before starting his ministry. Satan makes him paying homage to him, but the answer is categorical: «  For it is written: Worship the Lord your god, and serve him only»(Matthew 4.10).

When the apostle John, in the Revelations, wants twice bow before the angel that speaks to him, he immediately forbids him: “Do not do it; I am a fellow servant with you … Worship God “(Revelations 19.10)

When Paul and Barnabas healed a crippled man by birth and one wants to honor them as gods, they deny it with the utmost energy.

We should honor to God alone. To accept or looking for honor reserved for God is pride, “the fault of the devil” (1 Timothy 3.6)

Yet when Jesus lived on earth, we see several opportunities for men honoring him:

-A healed leprous prostrates himself before him (Luke 17.16)

-The disciples worship him after he soothed the wind (Matthew 14. 33)

-A man been born blind and healed by Jesus acknowledges him as the Son of God and prostrates himself (John 9:38)

-When Jesus risen shows his wounds to Thomas he exclaims:

“My Lord and my God! “(John 20:28)

How to explain that Jesus, man “humble of heart” (Matthew 11:29); has received these gestures of worship without protesting? The answer is obvious: he was well, he, God whom alone returned honor and respect.

The Lord watches over you . Psalm 121.5

He who watches over you will not slumber . Psalm 121.3

He will be the sure foundation for your times. Isaiah 33.6

Had been said that Swallows built their nest on the tent of the Emperor Charlemagne during a military campaign. At the time of raising the camp, he commanded to leave the tent in place until the fledglings are able to fly. No one should touch or even frightened them. We are surprised to see the attention of a war leader toward those birds who had fled home.

We perhaps forget that God , far more powerful than an emperor, takes care of all His creatures, even the most vulnerable, even the most insignificant before men : «  Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young » (Psalm 84.3 ).

« Yet not one of them is forgotten by God », said Jesus, before adding : ” Don’t be afraid” (Luke 12.6,7) It is He who has provided all that is necessary to man before placing him on earth, the one who has shaped her hands and knows his weaknesses, he who came down to earth to meet him. He has loved us; he experienced rejection, suffering, and extent of giving his life for us. Did he not take care of them that trust in him?

King David, a figure of Jesus Christ, said to Abiathar to come and take refuge close to him: ” Stay with me, don’t be afraid … You will be safe with me ” (1 Samuel 22.23)

What peace, what peace of mind for those who have placed his trust in God and who surrenders to his loving care !
